Dear students,
This is a video where you can listen to the book: The Lost World
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was a British author, best-known for his stories about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and the adventures of Professor Challenger. He wrote science fiction, historical novels, plays and romances, poetry and non-fiction. The Lost World is considered an early example of science fiction. The characters of Edward Malone and Lord Roxton were based on a journalist and a diplomat known to Conan Doyle in real life.
The Lost World was made into a silent film in 1925, five years before Conan Doyle died. Since then, it has been made into radio dramas, additional films and a television series. Conan Doyle’s story influenced the popular series of Jurassic Park films.
